Custom Website Design Tool for Deviant Ink

Deviant Ink, a company specializing in custom wraps for power sports vehicles like snowmobiles and dirt bikes, faced a challenge: they needed a solution that would allow customers to easily customize wrap designs while still showcasing the variety of designs available. The goal was to create an intuitive, seamless process where customers could choose from a library of pre-designed wraps, then personalize those designs with their own logos, colors, and graphics. This would not only enhance the customer experience but also speed up the order fulfillment process.

Deviant Ink wanted to offer customers an easy-to-use tool that allowed them to visualize and customize wraps, but the existing system was limited. The key challenge was ensuring that the customizations were accurately displayed in real-time, allowing customers to see exactly what they were ordering. Additionally, the backend had to be organized in a way that made it easy to update and manage the designs, while also supporting a wide range of customization options.

I created a system where the wraps were grouped by color and layer on the backend of the website. The designs were overlaid with a traced layer that provided a clear indication of where logos and other elements could be placed. This feature ensured that when customers added logos, graphics, or text to the wrap, the design would immediately update in the preview, showing them exactly what their customized wrap would look like.

The new customization tool delivered several key outcomes:Enhanced User Experience: Customers could now easily personalize their wraps by dragging and dropping logos and text onto pre-designed templates. The tool made the customization process both simple and visually intuitive.Improved Accuracy: The system’s traced layer ensured that logos and graphics were placed correctly, minimizing the risk of design errors.
